The band's fifth studio album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You, was released in February 2022. was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, and the song " Not", was nominated for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. Both albums received critical acclaim U.F.O.F. in May 2019 and Two Hands in October 2019.
In 2019, the band signed to 4AD and released two studio albums: U.F.O.F. Their second studio album, Capacity, was released in 2017. The band's debut album, Masterpiece, was released on Saddle Creek Records in 2016. Its members are Adrianne Lenker (guitar, vocals), Buck Meek (guitar, backing vocals), Max Oleartchik (bass), and James Krivchenia (drums). It's the band's first record since signing with 4AD last fall.Big Thief is an American indie folk band based in Brooklyn, New York. Producer Andrew Sarlo, who's produced the previous Big Thief records, worked on was recorded on a 10-acre farm in a barn-turned-studio known as Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville, Washington. They've made some of my favorite music of the past three years, with 2016's "Terminal Paradise" was first played live with Big Thief and recorded last January forĪbysskiss, and that's also true of the extraordinary song "From."īig Thief is Adrianne Lenker on guitar and vocals, Buck Meek on guitar, Max Oleartchik on bass and James Krivchenia on drums.
In fact, two of the songs onĪbysskiss, her 2018 solo record. Big Thief: a song, released today, called "UFOF," and the band's third album, coming May 3, titledįrom the opening lines of the song, it's clear that UFOF stands for "Unidentified Flying Object Friend." Adrianne Lenker sings: "To my UFO friend / Goodbye, goodbye / Like a seed in the wind / She's taking up root in the sky." The song is quieter than might be expected from Big Thief, and would fit right in with the solo album Lenker released last fall.
